Which Business Types Are Supported?
Choosing a business type
You pick your business type in the portal’s settings. HandleHQ has 30 pre-configured business types. Each one comes with guardrails: the assistant does not quote prices it has not been given, does not promise stock or availability it cannot confirm, and does not commit your business to anything.
When choosing a business type, pick the option in settings that most closely reflects the work your business normally handles. If more than one option seems relevant, consider the services you offer most often and the questions customers are most likely to ask. This is general guidance for matching an available option with your operation.
Where to see every business type
The full list of 30 business types appears in the Business type setting in the portal, so check there for the exact options. As general guidance, the best choice is usually the one that matches your primary service rather than a service you only offer occasionally.
Choosing between similar options
A useful starting point is to write down the main services your business provides. For a service company, these might be the jobs you handle most frequently. For a retail business, they might be the product categories customers ask about most. For an appointment-based business, they might be the types of visits or consultations you offer.
Next, consider the information a customer may expect you to provide. As general guidance, a business might need to answer questions about availability, service areas, appointment times, product options, delivery, pricing, or booking requirements. Keeping this list nearby can help you identify the business type that best reflects day-to-day operations.
If two options appear equally suitable, compare their scope. One may describe a broad range of services, while another describes a single, more focused service. Pick the one closest to the work that makes up most of your customer conversations. This is general advice on thinking through the choice, not an extra HandleHQ feature.
You do not need to force every service into the closest option. General business advice is to select the type that represents your main operation, then use your own service list and policies as a reference when organizing the business. If your work differs substantially from every option in settings, contact HandleHQ and explain what your business does before deciding which option to use.
Reviewing your choice
When evaluating a business type, check whether the name accurately describes the experience customers have when they contact you. Look at the services you handle every day, the questions you receive most often, and the details that distinguish your business from similar providers.
This review can be especially useful for businesses that combine several activities. A guesthouse may have a restaurant, a clothing boutique may offer tailoring, and a tutoring business may also provide home services. In cases like these, prioritize the activity that drives most of your customer conversations rather than every secondary offering.
Each of the 30 business types is pre-configured. Reviewing the options in settings can help you find the closest starting point for your operation. If none of them clearly fit, get in touch rather than assuming that a broad or unrelated option is the right fit.
